PAINTING

My painting work starts with the exercise of photography. The images chosen are records of my own experiences in a natural environment. The characters portrayed are in moments of relaxation, contemplation, reflection. Some screens carry an affective charge, as they show acquaintances, friends, relatives and pets.

In the pictorial reinterpretation of photography, the framing, light, colors and objects of the initial composition may or may not be manipulated. Throughout the process, there is a large deceleration in job execution time. Starting from the digital image that took a fraction of a second to be created, the painting of each canvas takes months to be finished.

The realism and documentary characteristic of the initial photograph is altered in the new support, creating an almost improbable universe, with the hope of stimulating in the observer the perception of aspects of our existence that are not captured by the five senses.  Perhaps the enjoyment of painting can help bring awareness that there is no separation between humans and nature, and that, in fact, we are nature itself.
